Ray Perkins Jr. is professor of philosophy in the PSU Philosophy Department and served as department Chair from 2000-2008. His main interests are in critical thinking, social-political philosophy, peace and justice studies, and the philosophy of Bertrand Russell. His published work includes R.P. Sylvester’s The Moral Philosophy of G.E. Moore (co-edited with Ralph Sleeper, Temple U, 1990), The ABCs of the Soviet-American Nuclear Arms Race (Wadsworth, 1991), Logic and Mr. Limbaugh (Open Court, 1995) and Yours Faithfully, Bertrand Russell: A Lifelong Fight for Peace, Justice and Truth in Letters to the Editor (Open Court, 2002), which won the 2003 Bertrand Russell Society Annual Book Award. He has published many articles in scholarly journals over the years, including Mind, Analysis, Nous, The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, and The Journal of the History of Philosophy. Perkins was born in Concord, N.H. and attended public schools there. He earned a B.A. degree in philosophy from Colby College, and a Ph.D. in philosophy from Duke University. He lives with his wife, Karen, in Webster, N.H.
